In May, we closed an equity line of credit with Lincoln Park Capital for up to $12 million of additional funding. The company will continue its multi-step approach to raising capital through customary financing, warrant inducements, and public-private partnership opportunities going forward.
As we continually record, our ibezapolstat clinical results continue to demonstrate its leadership in the field and a serious and potentially life-threatening infectious disease called Clostridioides difficile infection that the U.S. During the second quarter, the company raised a total of approximately $3.4 million of gross proceeds through purchases under the equity line of credit and a warrant inducement agreement. The decrease was primarily due to a $0.7 million decrease in share-based compensation and a $0.1 million increase in professional fees.
I see that you guys are, you know, preserving cash, operating expenses coming down, nicely in line with your expectations of good capital. What I would say is, when you're seeing things like G&A expenses that we report on these earnings calls, that's a different number than cash flow.
- Sharply reduced its cash burn: research and development expense fell to $0.5 million (from $1.8 million a year earlier) and G&A to $1.7 million (from $2.3 million), cutting the quarterly net loss to $2.2 million from $4.1 million and bringing monthly cash burn down to roughly $400,000.
- Published its ibezapolstat Phase 2 CDI clinical-trial data in The Lancet Microbe, with the senior author noting high rates of clinical cure and sustained cure while preserving health-promoting gut bacteria versus the only two guideline antibiotics (vancomycin and fidaxomicin).
- Strengthened intellectual property and preclinical support for the ACX-375C program, including a new Indian patent for its DNA polymerase IIIC inhibitors (expiring December 2039) and mechanism-of-action data presented at a FASEB conference from its Leiden University Medical Center collaboration.
- Confirmed that the FDA and the European Medicines Agency agreed on an identical Phase 3 protocol for ibezapolstat, and reported that essentially all elements are ready to begin the Phase 3 program.
- Cash remained very tight at $6.1 million as of June 30, 2025, leaving the company dependent on incremental, dilutive financings (an equity line of credit and warrant inducements) and on securing a partnership or non-dilutive funding to actually fund the Phase 3 program.
- Implemented a 1-for-20 reverse stock split in August 2025 to maintain compliance with Nasdaq listing requirements, underscoring share-price pressure.
- The timing of a partnership or government/public-private funding remained outside the company's control and was pushed toward late 2025 or into 2026, given the U.S. federal budget cycle.
