Apple's newsroom announced that John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will become Apple's CEO effective September 1, 2026. Ternus joined Apple's design team in 2001, became VP of Hardware Engineering in 2013, and SVP in 2021. He holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and previously worked as a mechanical engineer at Virtual Research Systems.
