Gail B. Harris is Evercore's Lead Director and serves as Chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and as a member of the Audit Committee.

She began her legal career at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in 1977, was a partner in the Corporate Department from 1984 to 1998, and was Of Counsel to the firm through June 2011. She has extensive experience advising boards of directors and representing clients on general corporate and securities work, joint ventures, partnerships, and acquisitions and dispositions. She previously served on the boards of Seacor Holdings Inc. and Cigna Life Insurance Company of New York.

She received an A.B. with distinction and a J.D. from Stanford University.
