James L. Liang has been a director of Landstar System since March 2022. He invests in early-stage technology companies and is an operating partner at Updata Partners LLC, a growth equity investment firm focused on B2B software companies.
From 2008 to 2011 he served as Senior Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development at Amdocs, Ltd., where he led corporate strategic planning and acquisition activities, and before that as Vice President, Strategy for IBM's Global Technology Services division. Earlier he was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc. from 1993 to 2004, culminating as head of global technology investment banking. He holds an M.B.A. (Finance and Marketing) from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics & Economics from Brown University.
