Advance Auto Parts acquires B.W.P. Distributors, Inc.

Advance Auto Parts acquired B.W.P. Distributors, Inc., a transaction completed in December 2012, structured as all cash.

B.W.P. Distributors, Inc. operates in Commercial automotive parts distribution (Northeast US), is based in Armonk, New York (Northeast US). B.W.P. Distributors, founded in 1962 and based in Armonk, New York, supplied, marketed and distributed automotive aftermarket parts principally to commercial customers, operating or supplying 216 locations across Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. Advance took 124 BWP company-owned stores plus distribution centers in Sutton, Massachusetts and Delran, New Jersey, and transferred the rights to distribute to 92 independently owned locations to an affiliate of General Parts International. The deal value was not disclosed.

Advance positioned the deal as a way to accelerate its expansion in the Northeast, a stated strategic growth area, and to grow its commercial business.

BWP added an established commercial-customer network and store/distribution footprint in the Northeast, a region Advance targeted for growth. Advance operated 124 BWP company-owned stores and two distribution centers (Sutton, MA and Delran, NJ); BWP President Neil Stockel continued to collaborate with Advance.
