Microsoft Corporation acquired Azyxxi, a transaction announced in July 2006, structured as Acquired from Datomics Licensing and General Datomics (MedStar Health a co-owner of General Datomics); the original creators joined Microsoft to continue development..

Azyxxi operates in Health Solutions Group, is based in Washington, D.C. (developed at Washington Hospital Center). Azyxxi was health-intelligence software that captured, integrated and displayed patient data from many sources — EKGs, scanned documents, imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI, PET) and ultrasound — giving clinicians instant access to comprehensive patient information at the point of care. Microsoft acquired it to deepen its healthcare presence and make a proven clinical solution more widely available.

To deepen Microsoft's commitment to the healthcare industry and make a proven health-intelligence solution more widely available, in the belief that information technology can improve healthcare delivery by giving physicians instant access to critical patient data.
