Microsoft Corporation acquired Equivio, a transaction announced in January 2015.

Equivio operates in Office Product Group (Office 365 eDiscovery / compliance). Equivio provided machine-learning technology for eDiscovery and information governance, helping organizations sift through large volumes of email and documents for legal and compliance purposes. Microsoft acquired it to make the eDiscovery and governance capabilities in Office 365 more intelligent and easier to use.
