Microsoft Corporation acquired GIANT Company Software, a transaction announced in December 2004, structured as Acquisition (terms not disclosed).

GIANT Company Software operates in Security Business and Technology Unit, is based in United States (New York). GIANT Company Software was a provider of top-rated anti-spyware and Internet-security products. Microsoft acquired GIANT's intellectual property and team to build spyware protection into Windows; the technology became the basis of Microsoft's AntiSpyware (later Windows Defender).

Deliver spyware protection, detection and removal tools to Windows customers using GIANT's technology and expertise.
