Microsoft Corporation acquires Mobile Data Labs

Microsoft Corporation acquired Mobile Data Labs, a transaction announced in November 2015.

Mobile Data Labs operates in Office Product Group. Mobile Data Labs makes MileIQ, an app that uses a phone's sensors to automatically capture and calculate business mileage for tax deductions and reimbursements. Microsoft acquired it to expand intelligent productivity solutions for the tens of millions of mobile professionals in a mobile-first, cloud-first world.

Microsoft wanted to reduce the time mobile professionals spend on administrative tasks like mileage, expenses and reimbursements, reinventing productivity and business process.
