Microsoft Corporation acquires Softricity

Microsoft Corporation acquired Softricity, a transaction completed in July 2006, structured as Softricity became a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft (deal originally announced May 22, 2006; completed July 17, 2006)..

Softricity operates in Server and Tools Business. Softricity provided application-virtualization and dynamic-streaming technology that reduces application management cost and complexity by serving applications centrally and delivering them to desktops as virtualized images. Microsoft acquired it to accelerate application and OS deployments and enable centrally managed software services.

To reduce costly application-management processes, accelerate application and operating-system deployments, minimize application-compatibility testing and enable centrally managed software services through virtualization at the application layer.
