PPL Corp acquired Safari Energy, LLC, a transaction completed in May 2018, structured as Acquisition of Safari Energy, LLC (terms undisclosed).

Safari Energy, LLC operates in Distributed energy / commercial solar solutions, is based in United States (headquartered in New York City). PPL acquired Safari Energy, LLC, a leading U.S. provider of solar energy solutions for commercial customers. Safari Energy delivers turnkey solar projects for its clients, managing all phases from inception through financing, design, engineering, permitting, construction, interconnection and asset management, and had completed over 200 solar installations by the time of the deal. PPL described the acquisition as a low-risk way to support a cleaner energy future and the growth of distributed energy resources, including energy storage.

PPL positioned the deal as an attractive, low-risk opportunity to advance a cleaner energy future, support growth in distributed energy resources including energy storage, and gain experience with technologies expected to shape the future grid, while emphasizing that its core growth engine remained its regulated utilities.
