TAIWAN SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURING CO LTD acquired Mutual-Pak Technology Co., Ltd., structured as Acquisition of controlling interest (approximately 51%) via TSMC's VentureTech Alliance Fund III (VTAF III); consolidated as a majority-owned subsidiary from July 2007..

Mutual-Pak Technology Co., Ltd. operates in Advanced backend / RFID and electronic components, is based in Taiwan. In July 2007 TSMC acquired a controlling interest in Mutual-Pak Technology Co., Ltd., a New Taipei, Taiwan-based company engaged in the manufacture and sale of electronic parts and in the research, development and testing of RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology. The stake was taken through TSMC's venture-capital vehicle VTAF III (VentureTech Alliance Fund III), which increased its holding from roughly 13% in March 2007 to about 51% by July 2007. From that point TSMC consolidated Mutual-Pak's results as a majority-owned subsidiary. TSMC later ceased to hold majority voting control of the company in December 2017.

Strategic venture investment through TSMC's VentureTech Alliance program to build a controlling position in a company developing RFID technology and electronic parts.
