John R. Stuelpnagel, D.V.M., has been Chairman of the 10x Genomics board of directors since August 2013.
He co-founded Illumina in 1998, where he worked in various capacities including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and board member until March 2009. He co-founded and was Executive Chairman of Ariosa Diagnostics from October 2009 to January 2015, when it was sold to Roche, and was Chairman of Sequenta from November 2010 to January 2015, when it merged with Adaptive Biotechnologies (where he then served as a director from January 2015 to November 2017).
He received his B.S. in Biochemistry and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis, and his M.B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
