He was formerly President and CEO of Pool Corporation, a global wholesale distributor of swimming pool equipment, parts and supplies, from 2001 to 2018, and its President and Chief Operating Officer from 1999 to 2001. Earlier he gained general, financial and operations management experience with Watsco, Inc., Fresh Del Monte Produce B.V., International Business Machines Corp., and Sea-Land Service Inc./R.J. Reynolds, Inc.

Mr. Perez de la Mesa holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Florida International University and a Master of Business Administration from St. John's University (NY); he was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant.
