He retired from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in 2013 after a 33-year career, most recently as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program from 2000 to 2013, and earlier served as a U.S. Navy aviator, retiring as a Captain in the Naval Reserve in 1994. In August 2026 he notified the board of his decision to retire and not stand for re-election at the 2026 annual meeting.
