AbbVie's largest acquisition to date. Allergan brought its global aesthetics franchise led by Botox, plus branded therapeutics across neuroscience, eye care and women's health. The deal was structured under Irish Takeover Rules; Allergan holders received a mix of cash and AbbVie stock. It diversified AbbVie's revenue base ahead of Humira's loss of exclusivity.

02 Pharmacyclics, Inc. · Sunnyvale, California $21B
Pharmacyclics' flagship product was Imbruvica (ibrutinib), a first-in-class BTK inhibitor approved across several blood cancers and co-developed with Johnson & Johnson's Janssen unit. AbbVie prevailed in a bidding contest and paid $261.25 per Pharmacyclics share in cash and/or stock.

Stemcentrx's lead compound was rovalpituzumab tesirine (Rova-T), a biomarker-specific antibody-drug conjugate then in late-stage development for small cell lung cancer. AbbVie paid about $5.8 billion upfront with up to $4 billion in additional contingent milestone payments. $5.8 billion upfront (up to ~$9.8 billion with milestones).

04 ImmunoGen, Inc. · Waltham, Massachusetts $10.1B
ImmunoGen is a commercial-stage biotech focused on antibody-drug conjugates. Its flagship therapy Elahere (mirvetuximab soravtansine-gynx) is a first-in-class ADC approved for platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, backed by a pipeline of next-generation ADCs. AbbVie paid $31.26 per share in cash.

06 Aliada Therapeutics Holdings, Inc. $1.4B
Aliada is advancing therapies using a novel blood-brain-barrier-crossing technology to address central nervous system diseases. Its lead asset, ALIA-1758, is an anti-pyroglutamate amyloid beta (3pE-Abeta) antibody in development for Alzheimer's disease. AbbVie paid approximately $1.4 billion upfront and accounted for the transaction as an asset acquisition. $1.4 billion upfront.
07 Capstan Therapeutics, Inc. · San Diego, California $1.9B
Capstan is a clinical-stage biotech advancing in vivo engineering of cells through RNA delivery using targeted lipid nanoparticles (tLNPs). The transaction includes CPTX2309, an in vivo CD19 CAR-T candidate. The FY2025 10-K records approximately $1.9 billion of upfront charges related to the acquisition. $1.9 billion upfront.
08 Gilgamesh Pharmaceuticals, Inc. · New York, New York $906M
AbbVie completed its acquisition of Gilgamesh Pharmaceuticals' lead investigational candidate, bretisilocin, a novel short-acting serotonin (5-HT)2A receptor agonist and 5-HT releaser (psychedelic-class) compound in Phase 2 development for major depressive disorder. The FY2025 10-K records approximately $906 million of upfront charges. (Reported completed in Q3 2025.). $906 million upfront.
09 Nimble Therapeutics, Inc. · Madison, Wisconsin $288M
Nimble is a biotech focused on oral peptide therapeutics; its lead asset is an investigational oral peptide IL23R inhibitor in preclinical development for psoriasis, alongside a peptide synthesis, screening and optimization platform. The FY2025 10-K states an aggregate purchase price of $288 million ($210 million upfront cash plus $78 million contingent consideration). $288 million ($210 million upfront).
10 Syndesi Therapeutics SA · Belgium $130M
AbbVie acquired Syndesi and its portfolio of novel modulators of the synaptic vesicle protein 2A, including lead molecule ABBV-552 (formerly SDI-118). ABBV-552 is a small molecule evaluated to target nerve terminals and enhance synaptic efficiency. AbbVie made a $130 million upfront payment, recorded as acquired IPR&D, and accounted for it as an asset acquisition. $130 million upfront.
11 Landos Biopharma, Inc. · Blacksburg, Virginia Not disclosed
AbbVie completed its acquisition of Landos Biopharma, adding the first-in-class investigational asset ABBV-113 (NX-13) to its pipeline. ABBV-113 offers a novel oral approach to treating ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD).
12 Celsius Therapeutics, Inc. · Cambridge, Massachusetts $250M
Celsius is a privately held biotech pioneering therapies for inflammatory disease. Its lead investigational asset, CEL383, is a potential first-in-class anti-TREM1 antibody for inflammatory bowel disease that had completed a Phase 1 study. The FY2024 10-K records a $250 million upfront charge related to the acquisition. $250 million upfront.
13 Mitokinin, Inc. · San Francisco, California Not disclosed
AbbVie exercised its exclusive right to acquire Mitokinin, a discovery-stage biotech developing a potentially first-in-class disease-modifying treatment for Parkinson's disease. Mitokinin's lead compound is a selective PINK1 activator designed to address the mitochondrial dysfunction believed to contribute to Parkinson's pathogenesis and progression.
